On the road to FIPADOC 2021 (Monday 18 to Sunday 24 January 2021)

Our challenge is clear: to prepare and construct the upcoming FIPADOC festival at a time when all cultural events in our country (and in many other countries around Europe) have been brought to a screeching halt for the second time this year. The FIPADOC team would like to express and affirm its support to the audiovisual and film industries, which have suffered considerable distress, with a special thought for cinemas and for the festivals that have been forced to quickly adapt or to reschedule their event.

Preparing FIPADOC’s third edition is no small feat, but never has our determination been greater. That no fewer than 1700 works have been submitted despite this difficult context is extremely encouraging, and has galvanized our commitment to forge ahead. The selection process is currently underway, and our programming will be announced early January. As always, we eagerly anticipate welcoming the public, students, and industry professionals to Biarritz. If we are to build the audiovisual landscape of tomorrow, we need to come together for discussion and debate. The show must go on.

And so, FIPADOC will be held as scheduled from 18 to 24 January 2021.

If circumstances relating to the pandemic permit (cinemas can reopen, public gatherings again authorised), we’ll see you in Biarritz! For those of you unable to travel, notably from international destinations (within Europe or beyond), Industry Days events, such as the International Co-production Forum and Campus, have already been designed to permit remote access in addition to in-person attendance.

If conditions required for a hybrid festival cannot be established, a 100% online edition will be deployed. The definitive configuration will be announced on 10 December.

Meanwhile, accreditations are now available! They will provide access to either a hybrid or 100% online edition of Industry Days and Campus events. Films from the official selection (in both competitive and non-competitive categories) will be accessible exclusively to industry professionals via the Cinando platform.

NB: Despite our efforts to guarantee the necessary conditions for workshops and training courses, the current logistical and sanitary situation prevents us from hosting them. We therefore regret to announce that they have had to be cancelled.
